Today, 10 February 2023, is World Pulses Day.
The World Pulses Day is part of the United Nations International Days and Weeks. It is organized by the Food and Organization (FAO); World Food Programme (WFP), the Global Pulse Confederation the IFAD, CGIAR and more.
World Pulses Day is a day to raise awareness on the nutritional benefits of pulses; and to recognize the importance of pulse crops. Pulse crops can be chickpeas, lentils and dry beans. Pulse crops hold great nutritional value, they are environmentally friendly, accessible and affordable.
Global food security and nutrition is increased as sustainable food production such as more pulse crops are planted around the world.
